Made only from Grand and Premier cru grapes, La Grande Année is the embodiment of the carefully preserved traditional expertise of Champagne Bollinger. Vinified in oak barrels, sealed with natural cork and riddled by hand, this champagne has waited patiently for 10 years in Bollinger’s chalky cellars.
Champagne Bollinger has never abandoned vinification in oak, an ancient method that helps develop aromas of great finesse. After a prolonged ageing on its lees, even today every bottle of La Grande Année is riddled and disgorged by hand.
The Bollinger Champagne B13 is produced with a cuvée of pure Pinot Noir grapes from the Montagne de Reims area.
With vineyards grown on mainly calcareous soils, this Champagne offers all the elegance of Pinot Noir vinified in white by combining grapes harvested from 5 crus of which 92% of Grand Cru and 8% of Premier Cru. The long maturation of 7 years in contact with the yeasts allows this Champagne to enhance the peculiarities of the grapes of the 2013 vintage and to show, as always, the extreme skill in the processing of Pinot Noir.
Bright straw yellow in color with fine and persistent perlage, it has a rich and complex nose with notes of almond paste, ripe fruit, plum and peach. On the palate you can recognize flavors of pear and almonds accompanied by notes of citrus and cedar which give the sip a refreshing charge and a long and soft persistence with light salty touches.
A predominant grape across the range, Pinot Noir is the pillar of the Bollinger style, and the House has forged its reputation by showcasing this variety. Bollinger PN embodies the ambition to bring to light the variety of expressions of pinot noir by selecting the finest varietal from several terroirs, each contributing a unique component to the overall taste.
This new PN TX17 edition explores the unique interpretation of pinot noir from Tauxières 2017.
